How guides are made

How Rested Review chooses topics, checks health information, uses AI and handles mistakes.

Who the guides are for

Adults in the UK who are sleeping badly and want to understand why, what they can safely try, and when to get help. Guides are not written for children or babies, and they are not a substitute for seeing a GP or pharmacist.

How topics are chosen

Topics come from the questions people type into search engines when they can’t sleep, such as “why do I wake up at 3am” or “does magnesium help you sleep”. Each guide answers one question properly rather than covering everything at once.

How health information is checked

Every health claim is checked against a reliable source before a guide is published. That usually means the NHS, NICE, GOV.UK or the MHRA, and sometimes a published research review. Each guide lists its sources at the end and links to them so you can check them yourself.

When the evidence is weak or mixed, the guide says so. A guide won’t call something a cure, and it won’t give medicine doses or tell you to stop a prescribed medicine.

How AI is used

Guides are drafted with the help of AI writing tools. Every draft is then edited and checked against its sources before it is published. Images on the site are made with AI image tools specifically for Rested Review, unless a caption says otherwise.

The guides have not been reviewed by a doctor or other health professional. The site doesn’t claim that they have.

Who edits the guides

Guides are edited by Amy Lewis, who is not a medical professional, however has a keen interest in the subject, having had recurring sleep problems in the past.

Dates and updates

Each guide shows when it was published and when its sources were last checked. Guides are reviewed when NHS or other guidance changes, or when someone reports a mistake. Small spelling fixes don’t change the date.

Mistakes and corrections

If you spot something wrong, email hello@restedreview.com with the page address and what you think is wrong. If you have a source, include it. Real errors are corrected and the page date is updated.

Affiliate links

If a page contains affiliate links, that page says so clearly. Earning a commission never changes the health information in a guide.

Privacy and cookies

The site uses Google Analytics only if you choose to allow it through the privacy choices pop-up. Advertising cookies are always switched off. You can change your choice at any time using “Privacy choices” at the bottom of any page. The site search runs in your browser, so what you type isn’t sent anywhere. There are no forms that collect health information.
